Pediatric Hospitals Program
Pediatric providers face different medical-legal issues than those providers treating only adult patients. When caring for minor patients, providers must not only take the patients needs, developmental level, comprehension and language barriers into account, but also work with the patient’s parents or guardian to obtain informed consent for the treatment plan. The ELM Children’s Hospital Program highlights these complex relationships and interactions, demonstrating to healthcare providers how to navigate safely within the boundaries that define the standard of care.
